this doesn’t really affect anyone but me, but i upgraded my wordpress blog finally. of course, now none of my links on the right work and i am not a whiz with the mysql stuff. so. yeah. that’ll be back someday, i’m sure. if nothing else, i’ll just delete them all and try to start over and see if that magically works. i complained about it to my co-worker. maybe he’s magical.
i took my car in to get looked at and OF COURSE i forgot to take a picture of the stellar damage that was incurred. oh well. my new hot ride is a white toyota corolla. i have so much experience driving a corolla, considering i don’t have one, that i think i should just be given some kind of honorary membership into the toyota corolla club.
i leave you with a photo of my “new dog” aka “maya with haircut”. you want to know how i knew it was time for her to get a haircut? last week she was scratching behind her ear and her foot got stuck in her fur. uh huh. exactly.

I thought these were Storm Troopers, but apparently the box they came in says they’re “Sand Troopers”. Well, whatever. I’m sure Jacob can correct me. I’m sad the frosting colors isn’t the same color as the base of the troopers, but alas, details details. It’s still pretty cute for a cake. My dad thought I should have added some more of the colored sugar on top for the sand, but I didn’t want to eat that much sugar, hence I just put a little bit. Yay, cake! I wonder if Jacob’s ever had a Star Wars cake before. Hmm. I bet mine is cooler if he has.

i was happily shopping for baking stuff today down in pacific beach with julia. we went to the great news cooking school so i could pick up a cake board and cake box for the birthday cake i’m going to make for jacob this week (he doesn’t read my blog so i feel safe saying what it’ll be – a star wars themed cake, complete with storm troopers!). after we went there we were going to head over to clairemont to check out this store called “do it with icing!”, another cake and candy supply store. on our way out of pb, i got hit from behind by another car. smoosh. my right tail light is completely gone and my trunk is kinda smooshed and the bumper is all crazy scratched up. the woman that hit me was nice, if not totally scatterbrained. it made me nervous and anxious for most of the afternoon but really i was in a surprisingly good mood about it. julia was nice enough to write down everything for me since i was pretty shaky. jacob just happened to be on his lunch break at work and called me and headed over to make sure i was okay, which i thought was so sweet of him. he is the bestest. so yeah. my car is kinda smooshed. i’m not really mad about it, sort of bummed since the car will be paid off in three months but at least it wasn’t my fault and i’m okay and uninjured. i’m expecting a bruise across the chest but nothing more then some nervousness. ahhhhh, what a day.

It was pretty cold last night – I had to use all of my blankets, not just the cozy underlayer. But did I close my window all the way? No. I refuse to believe it’s cold enough to start doing that yet. We had that mild burst of summer and charged right into fall. I do like the colder weather. The changing of the seasons more fall type foods as well – pumpkin and pecans and such. I think I’ll attempt another squash soup this fall. It’s so tasty!
I’m heading up to the OC this weekend to visit Alyssa. I’m sure we’ll enjoy a great variety of delicious foods that we’ll blog about eventually now that our food blog is working. I’ve been meaning to post new things in it but haven’t quite gotten around to it. I think I need to revisit the places that I still have pictures for since it’s been awhile since I’ve been to all those places.
Not much else is happening. Oh – I do have one item to report. Last weekend Julia, Laura and I went to a local beauty school called Linda Beauty School and tried getting facials for the first time. They offer European type facials for cheap. Since it was our first time, they gave us the $15 dollar facial for only $10. Their cheapest, regular facial is $10, the deluxe is $15 and the European is $20 – I’m not sure what the difference is between the three, but the one I got – the Deluxe – included a regular facial and a scrub. She offered to add a scrub or a mask and I picked the scrub. These facials are also only a half hour, not as long as you would get at a regular spa and it doesn’t quite have the same ambiance that you’d get at a spa, but for $10, who cares? It was very relaxing and my skin felt clean and smooth afterwards. I wanted to take a nap after it was all done. You basically get a steam bath on your face and a massage – it’s weird and takes a minute to get used to the steam, but once you stop thinking about it, it’s not a problem. They also have haircuts, manicures, pedicures, highlighting and waxing for a discounted price since all of the work is done by students. They’re located at Mira Mesa Blvd and Camino Ruiz – next to Carl’s Jr (park on the south side of Carl’s Jr and look for the large sign in the window on the second floor). They’re open Tuesday – Saturday until 6pm but they only take walk-ins until 4pm. You might want to call ahead and make an appointment to make sure you can get the services you want – often times the students will leave early if there’s no one else to work on.

the end of summer has decided to grace us with overbearing heat and humidity and its been making me sad. luckily i have been escaping to air conditioned places as much as possible, but still, it’s not nice. i can’t believe its september already. i feel like summer just started and its almost over already. but that’s fine, fall is my favorite season of the year anyway.
i played halo 2 for the first time ever last night and it wasn’t that bad and i actually had fun even though jacob said i was “very quiet”. but i was trying to concentrate on what i was doing. when you don’t know how to aim, it’s difficult.
i have nothing else to report. i have a bag of cereal on my desk that i will eat tomorrow if i remember to buy some milk. i’m reading “assassination vacation” because alyssa told me about it. i’m going to make carbonara tonight and hope that jacob likes it. i didn’t like the movie “old school” but i did actually like “blades of glory”. i’m going to make some cupcakes this week, just for fun. the end.

alyssa and i have a new food blog.
i posted all of my old entries from this blog over there, so it would have some content. i will update on it again someday. i just haven’t yet. like today, i went to panera bread and had a sammywich. it was not as good as i had hoped, but eh. the iced green tea they have there is my favorite. i really should be writing this on the other blog.
