While trying to scope out a place for food on my civic duty lunch break, a guy on the street who was begging for money for dog food told me I was really cute. I wasn’t sure if he meant it, or if he was really trying to hit me up for a dollar.

I bowed down and bought Mario Kart. I totally like it, even though I totally suck. Who cares! Well, I secretly care but not that much yet. I do actually like winning, but it’s not that important. Anyway. Driving! Rar! I hope someone feels like coming over to play sometime, though online play makes it less lonely. All I know so far is that I hate the Rainbow Road.

I also got selected for Jury Duty and I know Alyssa is the only one who was excited for me about this. It’s actually more interesting that I thought it would be, though watching the intro video gave me anxiety thinking about sitting in a room talking to 11 strangers. Then again, I have issues.

I’m reading a Star Wars book that Jacob lent to me and surprise, surprise. I love it. One of the other jurors saw me reading it today and said, “Wow, it’s so nice to see a girl reading Star Wars!”. I found it very amusing.

wes anderson swap

I recently did a new swap for swap-bot – a “Wes Anderson” swap. I liked the idea of the swap but the execution I had a little trouble with. But, I ended up making some cool postcards from Rushmore. I had an idea to make postcards of all of the clubs Max is in, but some of my screenshots turned out to be less than ideal. Oh, and there were 16! So, I only made 6. I might make the rest into postcards just to amuse myself though. I also made a CD from this San Diego band Alyssa told me about called “Kite Flying Society”, again, a Rushmore inspired name. I also found an Indian market really close to my house and found some Indian treats and tea to send along with the package.

I’ve had many people tell me over the years that I would probably like Battlestar Galactica based on the other sci-fi shows I’ve loved and watched over the years. I just wanted you all to know that you were right. It’s not that I didn’t doubt you, it’s just that I never had the real inclination to sit down and watch it until my boyfriend decided he was going to rent it. I watched the miniseries at his house and yesterday rented 2 discs from the first season. Yeah. Already totally into it.

snack bar in the winter

i did some things lately. i went to new hampshire. i saw my good friends sarah (currently in chicago) and georgy (currently in boston). jacob and i celebrated our one year anniversary. i got some new glasses. today i had some organic chocolate from the uk. sometimes it’s the little things that really count. but big things are also good, too.

i have some pictures to post and some food reviews to write but i’ve been all over the place lately and haven’t really had time. i plan to take a breather this weekend and veg out and get done with all of that. i also have a super cool “wes anderson” swap i’ve been meaning to finish up and send out, which i will show off later. maybe, this post is just to post. i didn’t really have anything cool to say other then “hey, look at me, i’ve been doing stuff”.

food

I’ve been posting all of my “adventures in food” posts over on our plain jane food blog if you are so interested in seeing what I’ve been eating. Or maybe you just like pictures of food? Or you want some ideas of where to grab a bite to eat? You know. All that stuff. You can do it over there.

It’s been cloudy all day and I haven’t been doing too much so far. I went to the laundermat today. It was pretty unexciting, but the drums I heard from in front of the new Yogurt World and the dancing dragons made the ho-hum day a little less dreary.

I’m planning on watching “The Darjeeling Limited” this afternoon. My boyfriend had no interest in watching it last night, so I will watch it by myself and I’m sure I will enjoy it. I love weekends.
