blueberry muffins

I can’t find the digital camera, so I used my camera phone. My camera phone sux.

I made blueberry muffins this morning using a recipe from the Splenda website. I wanted to make something my mom could eat (she’s just found out she’s diabetic) and thought I’d try it out. I don’t know what went wrong or if maybe this is a crappy recipe because these muffins did not turn out well. I think the biggest problem was that there was too much flour. I followed the recipe exactly and at the end it says to spoon your batter into the paper cups, but by the time I was at the end, it was more doughy than a batter. I had to add a lot more milk to smooth the mixture out so it was a batter-like consistenty again. The muffins mostly just tasted floury. Bleah. This is defintely not a recipe I’m going to use again.

I did spy a recipe I would like to try sometime: Blueberry Muffins with Hazelnut Streusel. I love hazelnuts, so I’ve bookmarked that page for future use.

haircut

November 9th, 2005 at 3:02 pm

I got a haircut today. I usually get my hair done at this place really close to my house that’s run by a few asian ladies. They do a good job and it only costs $10. I also like to go there because they don’t make small talk with you. I always hated getting my haircut and having the stylist try and converse with me like we’re old friends. I’m not really into making small talk, so having to be forced into conversation while getting my hair cut irks me. I’m such a social outcast.

my blog looks so lonely

November 4th, 2005 at 5:43 pm

My blog looked lonely, so I thought I’d post something even though I don’t really have anything to say. Last week I got drunk, like four times, which doesn’t usually ever happen. I’ve also been really tired lately. I must be suffering the reprecussions of staying out late last weekend. I thought I would have caught up on my sleep by now, though.

Tomorrow I’m going to start taking a free community college class on PHP and MySQL. It’s early in the morning so I hope I don’t fall asleep in it (it’s from 8a-12p, I think). This girl I freelance for said if I learned some programming she’d be able to pay me more and possibly have more work for me, which is a better prospect than trying to find a new job, again. Screw the job market. I’m becoming disenchanted about working a regular day job. I’d like the steady pay, but christ. What a pain in the ass. Screw it.

Maya is growing up into a cute little pup. She’s now 6 pounds (was 4 when we first got her) and she’s no longer scared of Rocky, climbing the stairs, or wet sidewalks. Baths though, still suck. Puppy kindergarten starts on Monday! I feel like a mom, of sorts. I’d post some more photos, but the camera is downstairs and I am too lazy to go get it. Perhaps later.

happy birthday to me

I had a pretty nice, mellow, low-key (27th) birthday. Late twenties, eh. Feels the same… and yet… old. Hmrph.

My mom and I went to Keith’s, my favorite local diner. They make the best hash browns. They’re crunchy on top and nice and creamy inside. Mmm, delicious. Then we went to Best Buy and I spent my gift certificate and some birthday money there and got myself “Shawn of the Dead” and Mike Doughty’s, “Haughty Melodic”. Then we stopped by Longs and I got a cape and some vampire fangs for my halloween costume. No, I’m not going to be Dracula. I’m going to be Catcula! I was going to be Frogcula, but I think the cat ears are cuter on me. After that, we went to see “Elizabethtown”, which I enjoyed. It’s not for anyone as it is a chick flick, but I seem to like those. For dinner, my parents and I went to the Olive Garden and later I got some sundaes at Baskin Robbins for dessert. Then, I played the Sims 2 with the expansion pack I got from Alyssa. Oh, happy day of goofing off!
