bottle cap magnets

I made these bottle cap magnets last month. They’re for a swap for my rubber stamp group and I think they turned out well. The skull was the first one I did and I put a piece of foam tape under it because I wanted it to float up. I probably shouldn’t have done that because I needed twice as much diamond glaze for that one than I did for any of the rest I made. The other magnets are made with a combination of papers. Some of it was from a recycled piece of mailing I got and some papers in a collage pack. I’ve been diligently collecting bottle caps so I can make another batch of magnets soon.

Georgy was nice enough to make an LJ feed for me. Really though, she made it because she’s lazy. That’s okay. I still love you, Georgy!

Here it is, if you so desire it:

mmm. pie

Tonight was my third attempt (this week) at making a pie with a handmade crust. My first attempt earlier this week turned out quite badly. The crust wasn’t good, the apples weren’t cooked enough and it had a funny flavor. We ended up throwing it away. Later, I made a coconut cream pie. The coconut cream pie filling turned out well but the crust was not good – it was too hard and crappy. I think maybe I overworked my dough. So I tried again tonight. I did my best to not overwork it this time and I made a pretty lattice on top. I haven’t tried a piece yet since it’s still cooling down, but it looks better already! I hope it turns out well.

Update: It was tasty.

fairy

Last week I was watching the Carol Duvall show on HGTV and saw a woman making wee folk creatures out of pipe cleaners and felt. I thought, “Whoa, those are so cool. I wonder if I can make that.” Yesterday I ventured out to the craft store to acquire the items I still needed and then crafted my little heart out. My result was a little fairy doll, who looks like she does not have arms. At least she can fly! She can visit you and shake her body and get some glitter on you. Luckily it was just glitter glue, so my whole body and desk were not covered in glitter afterwards.
