Maya got her spay surgery on Monday and has been fairly out of it for the last couple of days. I’ve mostly been hanging out and watching her and TV. But I do actually have some things to do, so now we’re in my “office”. She’s mostly sleeping under my desk right now, but she’s trying to chew on a few of her toys. There were some complications with the surgery so I have to give her about three different medicines. She’s been pretty good about it but it’s still no picnic.

For Christmas, I gave Alyssa a Scrabble bracelet that I made. I forgot to take a photo of it before I gave it to her, so alas, no photos. But, I was thinking I might make a few more and try my hand at selling things on Etsy.com. I’ve been wanting to sell things for some time now, but I haven’t had too much inspiration as to what to sell exactly. Maybe I’ll make a couple of other things and see how it goes. I also want to work on doing some more ideas for craft articles. I have lots of ideas for doing things, I just have to put myself into action.

it’s beginning to look a lot like christmas

Last weekend we got a mini-christmas tree to put in our dining room. I bought mini ornaments in anticipation a few weeks ago at Michael’s when they were have a super duper after Thanksgiving sale.

I also made some christmas cookies, I think I talked about that already but showed no picture! I thought I had misplaced our little device to upload pictures with, but really, it was just under my other monitor hiding from me. Coooookies:

I also recieved my thrift store swap today. It was packaged very nicely in a very large, decieving package! Decieving simply because it was mostly stuffed with the New York Times. How tricky! I got a set of neat jars with some folksy looking blue birdies, a an old bingo card and a reading readiness card that looks like it should be framed and placed somewhere around here.

I never posted about it, but I got a totally neat-o monkey zippered pouch and monkey cards for the craft swap last month from the girl that runs Piddleloop. I know the pouch is lurking on my desk somewhere and now I’m too much of a lazy ass to find it and photograph it. But if you visit her site, you’ll see what I am talking about! Super cuteness.

nintendo ds

I got an early Christmas present today from my mom: a Nintendo DS! Awww yeah. I got the Mario Kart bundle and the Animal Crossing games so far. I don’t think I’m going to pick up Nintendogs even though it looks cute, simply because I have a real puppy to play with and teach at the moment. Anyone else have Animal Crossing for the DS? I’d totally be down for swapping friend codes. Funny how you can’t exchange them on the Nintendo forums, as if people wouldn’t swap/post them elsewhere. I guess it’s just a liability thing.

Woo, early Christmas! I also finished my Christmas cards this weekend (just need to write/address them…) and made some Christmas cookies. I was going to post a photo but I can’t find this little piece of equipment I need to hook up the camera right now… so perhaps tomorrow. Wee! They’re ugly cookies anyway, but they tasted good. I made my first ever batch of royal icing and I think it’s a beautiful thing.

spider vs maya

maya chased a spider today and then tried to eat it. i didn’t think that was a good way for a spider to die, being eaten by a puppy. so i smashed it and threw it in the garbage. i don’t know if that’s a better way to die or not, but really, i just didn’t want maya eating spiders.

growing up

Maya got her third set of shots today. We have to go back on Monday though for the last Rabies shot – apparently if you get the shot even one day before they’re “officially” 4 months old, the county won’t count it as a shot and you have to redo it to get licensed. How anal. She’s also getting her spay surgery next month. No babies for this one!

crafty day

I finally got my cat hat from Spunky Kitty. It took about three months to get it because she got so backed up in her orders, but I loves it. I’m totally going to wear it to Boston later this month.

I also got into a crafting groove today. I started my Christmas cards and I also made about half of some calendar pages for my rubber stamp group. I think my calendar pages look awesome this year. Sometimes I am not satisfied with the ones I have made in the past, but these ones I totally dig.

dig it, dig it
