It was pretty cold last night – I had to use all of my blankets, not just the cozy underlayer. But did I close my window all the way? No. I refuse to believe it’s cold enough to start doing that yet. We had that mild burst of summer and charged right into fall. I do like the colder weather. The changing of the seasons more fall type foods as well – pumpkin and pecans and such. I think I’ll attempt another squash soup this fall. It’s so tasty!

I’m heading up to the OC this weekend to visit Alyssa. I’m sure we’ll enjoy a great variety of delicious foods that we’ll blog about eventually now that our food blog is working. I’ve been meaning to post new things in it but haven’t quite gotten around to it. I think I need to revisit the places that I still have pictures for since it’s been awhile since I’ve been to all those places.

Not much else is happening. Oh – I do have one item to report. Last weekend Julia, Laura and I went to a local beauty school called Linda Beauty School and tried getting facials for the first time. They offer European type facials for cheap. Since it was our first time, they gave us the $15 dollar facial for only $10. Their cheapest, regular facial is $10, the deluxe is $15 and the European is $20 – I’m not sure what the difference is between the three, but the one I got – the Deluxe – included a regular facial and a scrub. She offered to add a scrub or a mask and I picked the scrub. These facials are also only a half hour, not as long as you would get at a regular spa and it doesn’t quite have the same ambiance that you’d get at a spa, but for $10, who cares? It was very relaxing and my skin felt clean and smooth afterwards. I wanted to take a nap after it was all done. You basically get a steam bath on your face and a massage – it’s weird and takes a minute to get used to the steam, but once you stop thinking about it, it’s not a problem. They also have haircuts, manicures, pedicures, highlighting and waxing for a discounted price since all of the work is done by students. They’re located at Mira Mesa Blvd and Camino Ruiz – next to Carl’s Jr (park on the south side of Carl’s Jr and look for the large sign in the window on the second floor). They’re open Tuesday – Saturday until 6pm but they only take walk-ins until 4pm. You might want to call ahead and make an appointment to make sure you can get the services you want – often times the students will leave early if there’s no one else to work on.
