dolls

Last week I was watching the Carol Duvall show on HGTV and saw a woman making wee folk creatures out of pipe cleaners and felt. I thought, “Whoa, those are so cool. I wonder if I can make that.” Yesterday I ventured out to the craft store to acquire the items I still needed and then crafted my little heart out. My result was a little fairy doll, who looks like she does not have arms. At least she can fly! She can visit you and shake her body and get some glitter on you. Luckily it was just glitter glue, so my whole body and desk were not covered in glitter afterwards.

i had no idea they did anything that cool on the carol duvall show! the only other dolls i ever saw them make were super freaky – they took people’s photos, printed them on t-shirts, cut the faces out, and attached the t-shirt material faces to rag dolls. i still have nightmares about it. maybe the coolness of the fairy you made will negate the harm of that experience.

She reminds me of the Japanese ghost in Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood. I think it’s mostly the wispy unkempt hair, though.

It’s so cute! It reminds me of Wendy Froud’s faery dolls. How big is it about?
