another day in san diego

hey all. in case far away friends are wondering, my family and i are safe from the fires for now. we live about 10 minutes away from rancho bernardo, which is probably right now the hardest hit of the wildfires. it’s scary and nervewracking to see a community you’re familiar with on the national news with burnt embers of former houses right behind it, knowing you’re not too far away from that scene and a shift in the wind could have caused as much damage to your own home. hopefully the winds die down soon and the fires are contained. nothing to do but hope, watch and wait.

the weird part is, the cedar creek fires which happened four years ago occured right around the same time of year. the last fires actually started on my birthday four years ago. my birthday this year is on thursday, but we celebrated friday night. i had an awesome themed party from my wonderful friends – a 1989 senior prom theme – “in your eyes senior prom”. it was excellent. some day, i’ll post some photos. for now, i’m going to retreat. hope everyone is well.
