I waited until August to do my recap so I could be cool and different. Everyone else does there within a week or two, but me? I wait three weeks! Yeah! You're silently thinking I'm lazy, aren't you? Well, screw you. Anyway, here's a recap of the neat things I saw during my three days at Comic-Con (three and a half if you count Preview Night).

Look, a gigantic Pikachu! Run!

One of the cool panels I went to was about a remake of the classic film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. This new remake uses the same sets from the original film by digitally copying from the original film and using green screens for the actors to perform on the original sets. All of the filming took place in nine days, but they are still in post-production, piecing the film together for the big screen. David Lee Fisher is the director and writer who has written dialogue for the previously silent film. The film will also feature all new musical score. They showed a trailer from the new film which looks striking like the original. It should be awesome. They're hoping for a fall 2005 or 2006 release of the film, which will probably have a limited run. Check it out if you can!

Freaky cat bus.

Another panel I really enjoyed was "How Do They Draw That?" where some of today's syndicated cartoonists basically get up and draw the characters from their comic scripts. One of my favorite cartoonists, Bill Amend (author of FoxTrot), was there to show how he does his strip. He drew out a little scene of Paige screaming and Jason holding Quincy the Iguana out at her. It was awesome.

We also caught Kevin Smith, who was in the huge-mungo room (hall), Bruce Campbell and Robert Jordan, the author of the "Wheel of Time" books. I also attended a panel about how to better yourself at games (this one specifically MMORPGs) but it was disappointing. They didn't have an internet connection in the room so all they showed was videos and people asked really random questions. At least I got a free Maximum PC magazine out of that one.

Princess Leia also made it to the show.

A few mentions of some cool booths I particularly enjoyed were: Bumperboy (for the awesome pins which I should have bought more of), Toshwerks (very cute bags and a really awesome little story about a peanut that I really, really should have purchased but I am retarded), Mr Toast, Onion Head Monster, Lark Pien (some cool drawings and art), Designs by Lisa (so I'm a sucker for cute cow things) and Dorothy (dark version of Dorothy exploring Oz). I saw people dressed up in neat costumes, too. And I'm sure there were other totally neat things I saw, but my brain has gone into overdrive. I will sum up this report by saying that Comic-Con is awesome and maybe you should go next year. The end.

Who you gonna call?
