alyssa and i went to mitsuwa marketplace
today and got some new asian treats to try out. predictably, they
were totally crazy. we got the kind where it has some kind of
involvement on your part so even though the treats were not so tasty,
it was kind of fun making them to get to the point where you can eat
them.
i got the kind that was cola flavored (i only know this because there's
a little bottle on the front of the package that says "cola" on it). i
made my little treats by using the container it came in. i poured this
sugary stuff into the three spaces, added some water and stirred it
with my wee little spoon. then i stuck the little biscuits in and
waited. the sugary stuff hardened and i popped them out.
apparently i could spin these now like tops, but that didn't occur to
me until afterwards.
while fun to make, these things were kinda gross. they had a bad aftertaste. the biscuits were totally tasty though!
alyssa's
treat was different than mine. she had to do the same "mix stuff
with water to form a goo" step, but she had some kind of orange goo
which she scooped up and dipped in some biscuits. the first thing
she said to me when she came on aim was, "is your candy as nasty as
mine?" to which i replied, "yes". she couldn't figure out the flavor of
hers, except that it was somewhat like cactus cooler. maybe we
should learn japanese.
ps - even though alyssa thought it was nasty, she ate all of it, as evidenced above. |
