My first book recommendation will be a
Stephen King novel since I adore King: The Eyes of the
Dragon. For those of you who haven't read any of
King's novels because of the high gore content, this is a
good place to start.
It isn't gory in the least bit, but
is rather a medieval fantasy book. The basic plot of the
story is of a young prince who tries to discover the
truth behind his father's death. King wrote it with the
intention of it being something that his children could
read and is practically devoid of the usual violent
situations that he is known for in most of his novels.
Here's some little quip I found about the novel:
"There is a far-away land where dragons still live,
a land where magic still works, a land where hope and
courage still hold true. In this land there is a kingdom
called Delain. And in this kingdom, there lives a
magician, a dark man known as Flagg. And so trouble must
come to Delain. The king is poisoned and a prince wrongly
imprisoned....just as Flagg had planned. Yet someone
knows the truth, for he has seen through the Eyes of the
Dragon." |
