this is an old article. maybe you'll remember it and maybe you won't. it's
about dasani water. apparently i have been duped by the coke company
for a long time. i hope this is still entertaining to
you. if not, oh well. i won't cry about it. you can read my original
review by mosing on over to our
"reviews" section. proceed at your own risk. email is cool. i guess i'm being duped by coca-cola and mike was nice enough to let me know. i still kind of like dasani though. no offense, mike. ![]() From: Mike Rabkin To: mary Subject: You are being duped If you don't believe me, do yourself a favor, go to their website: and click on "understanding Dasani" up top, and look at the 4th question down. Here it is, cut and pasted in their own words! They ADMIT this outright. Q: Where does the water for DASANI come from? A: To create DASANI, Coca-Cola bottlers start with the local water supply, which is then filtered for purity using a state-of-the-art process called reverse osmosis. The purified water is then enhanced with a special blend of minerals for a pure, fresh taste. How stupid do they think the American public is, when we can buy the real thing (spring water, with NOTHING add to it) for the same money. You can just by a water filter for your tap or buy a Brita filter pitcher if you want filtered tap water. Coke thinks if they put it in a bottle, we will mistake it for spring water. Do you know how much money they make per bottle, considering they charge the same as spring water, but use tap water instead? Try to find out what those "minerals" are in Dasani, and look at the nutrition information label on the side, to see what's added. It might scare you. Why should there be chemicals in my water? That's what you pay to NOT have in water! That's why spring water costs what it does (even if it still is overpriced compared to other countries, like in Europe) In Italy it costs about a quarter or so to get a one liter bottle of spring water at ANY restaurant. I can vouch for this personally. Let me know what you find out! Good luck, and consider buying spring water for the same money.
Hi Mike - Thanks for opening up my eyes and letting me know that I am being duped along with everyone else in the nation. I also think you shouldn't take things like this so seriously... but I'm glad for the response anyway. I really just like water. Water's pretty tasty. You'd be amazed at how many people run a search for "Dasani" and come up with my lame review. Maybe we all just like to say "Dasani". Dasani! It's kind of fun to say. Or maybe its that hyponitizing blue bottle that draws me in. I don't know, but the next time I have a water craving, I'll be sure to spring for spring water. Maybe other companies should consider blue bottling as well. Maybe I shouldn't choose products based on their colors. Maybe I need to get a life. Would you mind if I posted your response on our site?
Thanks, |
