Underworld
is a modern day tale of a war that's been raging underground for over a 1,000
years between the vampires and the likens (werewolf). Kate Beckingsale stars
as a vampire warrior who unwittingly falls for a human who gets bitten by a
liken. The tale is sort of a kooky Romeo and Juliet story with the two races
at war and at the heart of it all are one liken and one vampire who fall in
love against the approval of the races.
What I liked best about the movie was the darkness to it and some of the fighting style. I also enjoyed that as the movie progressed, I kept switching sides as to which side I wanted to see win. It's got a few twists that keep you guessing and wondering where the movie will lead next. Some of it left me with a few questions and was a bit ... odd, but it was mostly enjoyable. I also found it interesting that when the vampires where upset (I couldn't tell if it was only when they were violent or all emotional feelings) their eyes glowed blue. Glowing blue eyes are kind of neat. The liken just seem to get furry and grow snouts, which isn't as cool as the glowing blue eyes in my book.
So far my favorite things of the movies seem to be:
If you're into dark forces and mystical beings, then this may be the movie for you. If you think that stuff is boring and a bunch of crap, well, I don't know if this would be the best choice for you. The fighting parts are still kind of cool though, even if they use guns. I guess guns are better than biting everyone you see.
